Surgery
Hunter Valley Private Hospital has five theatres and a nine bed recovery ward. A 4 bed High Dependency Unit adjacent the recovery ward can be used for long day stay recovery or high dependency patients as well as a recovery overflow in peak theatre times.
The theatres have been fitted with integrated Stryker technology. Ceiling pendants hold the services and equipment on booms that can be moved up/down and around to improve surgical access for the doctor and provide a less cluttered environment for the staff.
The Central Sterilising Unit has been designed to meet European standards for infection control and has been fitted with new technologies from Getinge including batch washers, sterilisers and computer bar code tracking of all instruments.
A dedicated endoscopy cleaning room adjacent the endoscopy theatres is also state of art with new medivators and drying cabinets using a cassette system to improve sterility and handling of the expensive endoscopes.
The same day surgical patient returns from first stage recovery back into the care of the same day surgery staff in the second stage recovery chairs. A third stage, more lounge like, area is provided for those who need to spend a little more time or to wait for their surgeon to provide post surgical advice.
For overnight patients there are up to 24 private rooms adjacent the entry to theatres and the high dependency unit.
