Welcome to Hunter Valley Private Hospital.

Hunter Valley Private Hospital is the oldest working private hospital in the Hunter area. It was established by the Masons in 1965, purchased by the Hunter Valley Private Hospital in 1985 and remains locally owned and operated and completely independent.

In 2011, after a major building project, bed numbers increased from 48 to 83 and theatres from 3 to 5 to match demand for our services.

The hospital specialises in a range of surgery, including day surgery, as well as endoscopy, musculoskeletal pain management, medical, day only and overnight rehabilitation services.

At Hunter Valley Private Hospital our motto “where caring comes naturally”  helps direct our experienced, highly skilled team of more than 100 doctors and 250 staff provide care to more than 12,000 people each year.

A four year Accreditation Award from the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards, the highest level achievable, reflects our commitment to ensuring that the welfare of our patients always comes first.

We are conveniently located at Shortland – a short drive from the Calvary Mater and John Hunter Hospitals with direct transport routes to the Lake Macquarie, Hunter Valley and Nelson Bay areas (see location map).
